Hi! My name is Sassafras. I am a playful and fun girl. I know some basic commands and love playing with other dogs.
I was living by my self in a 10X 10 pen outside before coming to HTR. I am so excited to find my forever indoor family.
Update: Sassy is an adorable, super sweet & very happy dog who can frequently be found wagging her tail. She seems to be highly appreciative for the care & attention she has received since being rescued & allowed inside a home. Initially she was fearful & apprehensive but has really blossomed over the past 2-3 weeks. Sassy will still act a bit fearful when meeting a new person but warms up quickly once trust is established.
Sassy loves to play with other dogs & enjoys going on walks. She is also a big fan of the "Kong" chew toy (particularly when filled with peanut butter). Sassy knows the "sit" command & is learning the "down" & "stay" commands. For all practical purposes, Sassy is pretty much potty trained.
Sassy has recently discovered the sofa & finds it to be a nice spot to snooze. If you join her on the sofa she will move close to snuggle. Sassy will follow you around the house but does well when left alone. She can entertain herself with dog toys or dog chews.
Prior to adoption I will be altered, vaccinated, health checked, dewormed, and micro-chipped.

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids
The breeds of our dogs and cats are a "best guess." We often do not know what mix they are and have to base it on what we think they look like, and base it on breeds often found in the area they came from. Most of our dogs who have gotten DNA tests done are 4-10 breeds mixed together. Because their breed mix is a guess we cannot guarantee a "full grown size" of many of our younger animals.

If there is a certain animal you want to meet at one the events please fill out a preadoption application to directly contact their foster family or check our Facebook page to see if they will be there! Their event attendance is based on the availability of their foster family.
All of our cats and dogs are INDOOR pets and are NOT to be left outside unattended (even in a fenced yard), or running loose!
