Bixby

I adopted Tink (now called Bixby) in early 2009 because my 6-month-old kitten Rupert desperately needed playmate other than my ailing senior kitty. Calm, patient Bixby was exactly what the household needed! He has been extremely tolerant of Rupert's sometimes inappropriate roughhousing. When they're not wrestling or chasing each other around the house, the two feline buddies can be found cuddled together in a cat bed. Bix and I have developed a special bond. He always comes to say Goodnight after I turn off the light, and usually spends the night curled up at my feet. He also likes to spend hours in my lap while I work at home, and when feeling particularly affectionate, will reach up and lightly put his paw on my chin. He's just a super nice cat, and I'm so glad that Happy Tails rescued him so he could come live out his years as part of my family. I've attached a photo of Bixby perched in his favorite spot on top of my bedroom armoire. Thanks for all you do.

Tolly

I adopted Holly (formerly named Tolly) a few months ago as a buddy for my other cat, Hoppy. The two of them have gotten along famously right from the start. When I brought Holly home, both of them cried and cried as they could smell each other through the door. So, after one day, an initial introduction, and one or two assorted hisses, they set about chasing each other around the house, playing together, and grooming each other. Here they are about a week after I brought Holly home, relaxing in the chair. (Holly is the all gray tabby) Holly is very curious and sweet and is quite happy to let her new, older sister rule the roost. She puts up with it when Hoppy forces her to be groomed, whether she needs it or not. She's not a total pushover though, she chases Hoppy around and can hold her own in their one-armed smackdowns. They complement each other well - Holly is missing her front right leg and Hoppy is missing her front left leg. I figured that would level the playing field a bit, so no one would have the upper paw. I like knowing that they look at each other and see a kitty just like themselves. Hoppy and I are really happy that Holly joined our family.

Halo
Halo

I adopted Halo in August 2009. I was so excited as I had cats growing up, but my living situation didn’t allow for that until now. Halo has a tone of personality and is a total drama queen. When I return home from work she chews me out for about 10 mins then lays in my lap and purrs. She is spoiled rotten which is necessary. Her favorite thing is wet cat food which she eats while I eat my dinner. I have gotten her used to baths, nail clipping, teeth and hair brushing and yes she wears clothes. For Halloween she was a little devil and all the kids loved it. She has two best friends My friends two pups Stewy and Tater you would think she was a dog when they come over. The apartment where I live offers you grocery carts to make it easier to well bring your groceries in, I use these when I am doing a lot of laundry Halo likes to ride in the child seat and go with me. We also spend a lot of time on the deck so she can kill flies and watch the kids play. She is so silly and I just love her. Once I move to a bigger place I hope to get her some brothers and sisters in either Pup or Cat form. Thank you Happy Tails for taking care of my baby for me until she could come home.

Harry
Harry

We adopted Harry Potter on Saturday (6/13/09) and he is doing great! I thought it would take a long time for him and our dog to get along, but to my surprise it did not! This picture was taken Sunday night. On Saturday night I had Harry and our dog Sophie in bed with me all night. I am happy to say that Harry has settled in and made himself right at home. Thank you we just love him! (posted 6/15/09)

Sparky
Sparky

We have renamed Sparky, Garfield. I have a 14 year old son, two other cats and a german shepherd and a golden retriever, too. It took him about 3 weeks to fully adjust to all the chaos here. He loves my brown tabby Persian, Chynna. They play together frequently throughout the day, sleep together, and wash each others faces. My calico Persian has a tolerance for him and sort of plays with him, but it could be a mild fight - I'm not sure. They eat side by side with no problems and they do not growl at each other. The dogs love him, but he is a little tense around them, which makes the dogs more excited and they want to go after him. They've never hurt him. If he is calm and sleeping, the dogs ignore him. He sleeps about 2 feet away from my german shepherd every night in my bed. I have a 2400 square foot house and he has full run of it. I have a pool in my backyard with a fence around it. I want to close up the fence so the cats can't get out and have Garfield join us outside some this summer. He loves the outdoors. I would like to have a little perch outside for him to sleep on when we are out there. He is usually the first one to jump in a window when I open one. I feed him Wellness brand food. He is doing good! (posted 6/4/09)
