Thinking about getting a dog or cat, or a second animal, but not quite sure? This is your chance to see how life would be with a dog, cat, second or third animal without making a lifetime committment.

When fostering for Happy Tails Rescue we supply authorized medical expenses and supplies. We can supply food, treats, toys, leashes, collars, beds, blankets, crates, bowls, puppy pads, baby gates, puppy pens, shampoo, brushes etc. You provide a safe and loving temporary home for a dog or cat while they await their forever home. It is a very fun and rewarding experience and a great way to get to know other breeds of dogs and cats and save a life at the same time!

We have both short and long term foster opportunities available. And as a foster parent, you always have the option of adopting your foster animal! (just not your very first, it is very important to go through and experience the whole process from start to finish!)

Foster homes have to be within 60 miles of our adoption center in Fridley MN, as all of our vet offices and supplies are within that area. 

This is what the adoption process looks like from the foster point of view:

1. When someone submits an adoption application staff look it over and then pass the app along to the foster family. We send apps to the family in a group chat on Facebook that includes the staff members so that any questions or concerns about applicants or fostering in general can be addressed in one place!
2. Once the foster family has looked over the application we ask that they get in contact within 24 hours to touch base with the potential family.
3. The foster asks and answers any questions that they have with the potential family.
4. The foster family arranges a time and place for a meet and greet.
5. If the foster thinks the applicant is a good fit and the meet goes well, we handle the adoption process and update the foster on the progress from there!

Because we choose to foster our animals versus kenneling them, we are limited to the number of animals we can take into our group by the number of available foster homes. So, we could really use your help!

Event Leads :  Help Happy Tails put on events throughout the year.  Locations vary so leads are needed all around the cities.  You can co-lead with another volunteer if you want.  You would be planning, doing setup and coordinating the event. 

Fundraising :  Do you have a little extra time?  Fundraising sometimes means an online event, group activity, or speaking at an event to talk about Happy Tails and what we do.  It can be totally designed by you.  We look forward to hearing new ideas.  

We have other volunteer activities such as helping out at the Adoption Days, so complete the online application and let us know your interests. We need people to help with Pet Adoption Days, Expos, Fundraising Events, Web Site Ideas, Phones, Transport Help, grant writing, etc. We are a very fun group of people who enjoy helping animals.
